Cristiano Ronaldo’s days in Manchester United are over. But his fans can have a part of him even after he leaves Old Trafford. The Manchester United Museum, located in the north stand of Old Trafford, has a Special Exhibition on Ronaldo running till September.
“After he won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2008, we felt it appropriate to set up an exhibition on Ronaldo,” said curator Mark Wylie. Ronaldo donated his trophies for display. The 1,600 square metre museum also has memorabilia of other current players.
Walk into the museum and the wall on which Manchester United logos are displayed catches the eye. A cabinet that showcases the club’s footballing heritage,
the silverware the Red Devils have won since 1908, is also an attraction.
In the centre of the Ronaldo special room is a glass mounted display of two pairs of his football boots, his jerseys and a print advertisement of him endorsing a denim brand. The walls are adorned with his life size images. A glass window displays his Golden Boot, Ballon D’Or trophy and other awards. The museum will return all Ronaldo’s awards and souvenirs. “We will arrange to have his collection returned to him at the end of the exhibition in September,” said Wylie.
Since Ronaldo has left United now, it waits to be seen how much of a draw the exhibition turns out to be. But for all those who want to see him one last time at Old Trafford,
this would be a good opportunity.
